Diving in Murcia and the Costa Calida, its brilliant but don’t just take our word for it!

Imagine your perfect dive day – The water is flat calm, the viz is amazing, its slack water, the sun is shining, there are loads of fish and you can see the wreck from the surface!...Welcome to Murcia 😊

We came to the Costa Calida region – Murcia and La Manga specifically, because the quality of diving here is so good compared to the rest of the Mediterranean and we can dive all year round due to the famous 300 days of sunshine. With summer water temperatures of up to 29 degrees, Clear visibility regularly exceeding 25 metres and an abundance of marine life, It’s no coincidence that the area has a reputation as an excellent dive location throughout the year compared to other Mediterranean dive spots.

With its own highly protected marine park, the Isla Hormiga Marine reserve, the fish life here is plentiful and also large in size. Giant grouper, schooling Barracuda and Dentex are always a key feature of the diving here. The Murcia region is also famous for its wreck diving, with several famous wrecks dived daily, such as the Naranjito. Deep and technical divers are also easily catered for with depths and wrecks in excess of 60m quite close to shore. We have a more in depth Blog about these cool wrecks coming soon, but if rust is your thing check out our latest wreck dives on our Youtube Page. CLICK HERE

Barracuda in Cabo de Palos - La Manga - Scuba Murcia

Scuba Murcia is a British run Dive Centre set in the heart of the Costa Calida, on the famous La Manga Strip which separates the Mediterranean from the in-land sea, The Mar Menor. We have access all year round to the fantastic dive sites of Cabo de Palos, The Marine reserve, other Islands and shore dive sites, also the many local wrecks. We are only a 2-hour flight from the UK, from most airports flying into Murcia, San Javier which is only 30 minutes’ drive away from our dive centre.

Whether you are looking for a long weekend away for some sunshine and a bit of diving, a week of non-stop diving with great conditions and plenty to see, or a week of technical dives, diving in the Murcia region is a must. We can’t find a reason not to come and dive here when there is so much to explore. Have a read of this article from PADI about our region, they think it’s great too! CLICK HERE to read it

So why doesn’t it feature more often in the UK dive press and with local dive centres? It seems to be a bit of a hidden gem that needs exploring! Don’t just take our word for it, come and dive with us and find out for yourself.
